You need the desktop version of Onenote! How to use The preinstalled versions of Onenote from the Windows App Store won't work. Also, at least Onenote 2013 or 2016 is required. OneDrive does have an "Undo" feature if you still manage to delete something that you really did not mean to.Evernote2Onenote requires that both Evernote and Onenote are installed. Once you are sure you are deleting the correct notebook, click "Delete". Note that the standard cautions when deleting things apply here! If you had an existing notebook in OneNote with the same name as the Evernote notebook that you imported, be sure you are deleting the correct one! Your notebooks will generally be stored in the "Documents" folder, so click on this folder to open it. To delete the notebook from OneDrive, go to and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used in Step 3. You can then delete the new notebook, either from your local drive (as per Step 4), or from OneDrive.

Once this is done, right-click the notebook you wish to delete, and click "Close This Notebook". If you have moved all the notes out of the new OneNote notebook that Evernote2OneNote created, and you wish to delete it, then repeat Step 7, and ensure that the notebook that you are deleting, and all notebooks to which you have moved notes have completed syncing. You may wish to verify that the move has completed as expected. If you are going to leave the notes in the new notebook that Evernote2OneNote created, you can rename the notebook, rename the "unspecified" section, and / or create new sections and move your notes around as desired. If you are attempting this, your best bet is to log into your OneDrive account in a browser, where you will be able to see which notebooks reside under each account, and which are just shortcuts to shared notebooks stored elsewhere. You can work around these limitations by sharing notebooks between the accounts, but it can be a frustrating process, and is outside of the scope of this article.

If the names on the accounts are the same, it may be unclear in the Android app which account you are logged in with, and you cannot change the account once OneNote is set up. OneNote does not provide an easy view to which OneDrive a notebook is stored on, and the Android app only allows access to one personal Microsoft account (as opposed to a business account, such as may be associated with an Office 365 subscription), even though it appears to give the option to do this.

One more note: If you are using multiple personal Microsoft accounts, be aware that this can cause some challenges if you use notebooks stored on OneDrive under different accounts.

If you have shared notes in Evernote (see Step 2 below), you need to be aware of this limitation before proceeding.ĬAVEAT: This procedure requires a fair bit of manual intervention, and may not be practical for a large number of notebooks. The current version of OneNote for Android typically requires Android OS 4.1 (Jelly Bean), and may not run on older versions, whereas Evernote may run on older versions. If you have nested notebooks in Evernote, you will have to export them individually.Īs with any application, be sure to check all of your devices for compatibility with OneNote before deciding to migrate. You should be aware that OneNote 2013 does not support nested notebooks (although it has an extra level with "Sections" (tabs in notebooks) that Evernote does not).
